Cabinet Constructions
At Domain Cabinets Direct, all our cabinet lines are premium quality solid wood RTA (Ready-to-assemble) cabinets. Our uniform quality control process during manufacturing assures that you are getting a high quality product. Here are some general construction details (each line may vary slightly):

Shelves:
5/8'' plywood with wood veneer on both sides, resistant to water and most household chemicals. All shelves are adjustable except for some tall cabinets featuring fixed shelves for enhanced structural integrity. Wall cabinet units have full depth shelves at 11'' deep, and base and tall cabinet units have full depth shelves at 23'' deep.
Drawer Guides:
75-pound-rated guide system. Side mounted, adjustable, self-closing with rear-mounting brackets. Or side mount 3-section ball-bearing full extension slides.
Drawer Box:
5/8'' thick plywood sides, fronts, and backs finished with wood veneer. Drawer sides are joined using either dovetail or butt joint construction method with screws.

Door / Drawer Fronts:
Drawers are generally 5-piece construction with 3/4' 'thick solid wood frames and plywood bottom panels. Drawer fronts are 3/4'' solid wood and match the style of the cabinets. (Check out color and style of door panels from our different cabinet lines).
The grain on all door panels runs vertically and the grain on all drawer fronts runs horizontally. There are separate wall cabinet units available with glass doors.
Cabinet Face Frames:
The face frame uses 1 /5/8'' wide and 3/4'' thick solid wood assembled using mortise and tenon construction. (This applies to North American face frame styles only. Does not apply to European frameless styles)
Fillers:
All flat fillers use 3/4'' solid wood mounted flush with the carcass. Decorative fillers are also available in some cabinetry lines under Accessories.

Hinges:
Fully concealed, six-way adjustable hinges with a 107-degree opening on all doors. With an open-door angle of over 100 degrees, the hinges ensure easy access to the cabinet interior. Our frameless cabinet lines come with self closing hinges, when the cabinet is only slightly open (10-15
degrees), the door will automatically close.
Carcass Panels:
1/2" or 5/8'' plywood - with (North American style) or without (European style) a 3/4" thick solid wood face frame assembled using mortise and tenon construction.
Cabinet Tops & Bottoms:
3/4" plywood, permanently laminated on two sides and resistant to water and most household chemicals. All exposed edges are covered with a matching edge. Panels are assembled using the butt joint construction method with screws or cam lock system.

Back Panels:
1/4'' thick plywood. Hanging rails use 3/4'' thick plywood with screws on back panels.
Toe Kick:
3/4'' thick plywood.
Each base cabinet unit comes with its Toe Kick in the box; but a Toe Kick (Skin) is needed to cover in-between cabinet seams.
*Please note that some of our vanities do not have dovetailed joints.
